Group Discussion On Censorship in Movies & Our Culture
Introduction -Censor board plays an important role by cutting the scenes which should not be shown to the public.In olden days there rarely used to be vulgar scenes in a cinema. But things have drastically changed now. censor board gives rate the movie as A, U/A or U.Censorship in Movies is necessary because Any director can release any movie that would affect our culture.
For -
- The censor board refuse vulgar words and censes which are not suitable our culture.
- The Indian cinema, our culture, our youth are adversely being affected by this.
- It helps in drawing the line and makes sure that we films are not something which could hurt the sentiments of any section of the population.
- It won’t be good for the harmony of the country.
- Some of the social media which is put up on the internet is offensive either to people or to a nation, and thus, requires censoring.
- Various sites play host to materials which could bring about a rift in the society.
Against -
- Directors are showing vulger stuff in movies because youth are attracting towards these stuff. So we can not blame on any one we are responsible for these vulger scene in movies.
- The censor board should not Interfere in the thoughts & ideas of film maker by forcing him to sound the " galiyan " as beep.
- There is a very thin line between censorship and obstruction of freedom of speech and expression.
- Laws and rules which are brought in the system should be followed which would not require the need for censorship.
- India is a democratic country and if they censor these social networks then they can hardly preach to dictators.
- There are many important services like rescue service, which rely on the social sites for real time information, not providing it may cost many lives.
- Social media should not be treated differently from the other forms of media like book or press. If they are not being censored then there is no need for censorship on social media.
